America Land of the Free

Hi All! What are you up to? Getting ready for a long weekend?..Well, we had a "blast" on Saturday. So much fun. I really miss living in San Francisco, which I could move my house into the "City". LOL!

Here is a card I made for a Yahoo swap I'm in using Tracy's ESS #43. I veered off the sketch just a little bit to make my 4th of July card. For this card, I layered my red and white cardstock "strips", stamping my images on white cardstock and adhering it to the middle of my card. Then I used my punch to cut a blue square out of cardstock, stamping it with white stars and placing it on the upper left of my card. I paper-pieced the kids' outfits with patterned paper and drew my "stitching lines" with a black SU marker. The star brads add a nice finishing touch, I think. Can you believe this weekend is the 4th of July?

Fun in the Sun

Hey Guys! Can you believe it's summertime and almost July? Amazing! Today is rumored to be a very hot California day, so I think this card is pretty fitting, don't you? For this card I used a "Bella" that someone stamped for me and sent to me in a swap. I then paired my image with a "Me and My Big Ideas" scrapbook kit from Michael's (patterned paper and stickers).

I'm keeping this post "short and sweet" because I need to get ready to go into San Francisco to celebrate my SIL's 31st birthday, which is today. We're gonna "pig out" and also do a bit of shopping...I can't wait!....Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Aysia

Hi, you guys. Whatcha up to? For me, work has been keeping me pretty busy and I am soooo much happier. I am even losing more weight because I am moving around so much. Yay!.. I was sooo stressed out before at my other job, that all I'd do is eat some more. Know what I mean? LOL!...I just feel sooo lucky that things are going so well.....

With that said, here is a card I made for my niece's 15th birthday. I dusted off my Stamping Bella that I haven't used in a while, using Tracy's ESS Sketch # 42 below. I colored my images with my Copics to match the patterned paper and paper-pieced her outfit, one of my favorite card-making techniques....Hope you enjoy the card and have a great night.

Dad, We Treasure You

Hey Guys. Here is Will's Father's Day card. I was a little stuck on the layout of this card, so what did I do? Checked out my pal Tracy's Blog, www.eatsleepstamp.typepad.com. Tracy's Sketchy Thursday to the rescue! (Again!). This was for her sketch ESS # 41. Believe it or not, this card took me 3 days to complete, off and on....I'll have more "deets" for you all later on this week. For now, it's after 11pm and I'm pretty tired and tomorrow is a work day. Nighty Night....ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz........

Wish You Were Here ~ Summer ATC

Hey Guys. I spent a little time today fixing up my blog. I think it's coming upon nicely. What do you think?...I even had time to finish these Summer ATCs for a Yahoo swap I'm in. I wanted to share them with you before I mailed them off. I'm also thinking of doing a monthly ATC swap where you mail ONE ATC to your partner each month. Is anyone interested? Let me know and don't forget to enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Congrats, Grad

Hey Guys. How was your day? We went to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco today and rented some petal boats to go around Stole Lake. Golden Gate Park is one of my favorite places in the world. It was a lot of fun... We were out so long that I didn't have time to finish a card, but I did want to show you guys the card I made for Tyler's First Grade Graduation.

For this card, I used my "recycled" materials again. This time it was a celophane bag. Since the bag was clear, I adhered it to a yellow kitchen notecard so the polka dots looked like part of the overall design. Next I stamped my Graduate and stars onto my cardstock, mounting it to the corner of my card with dimentionals. Then I added a little bit of ribbon and "presto"...all done...Well, I'm gonna say "good night" now. It's just about time for the kiddies to go to bed, especially Hailee, because she didn't have a nap today. Maybe I'll have time to finish that ATC I started yesterday. (And maybe time to "cuddle up" to my Honey...*wink** **wink**)...Have a good evening!

Garden ATC

Hey Guys! Here is a "garden" themed ATC I made for a swap on Yahoo. I was inspired to make this after my "How Does Your Garden Grow" card. (See my 5/25/09 post.) This ribbon scrap inspired the colors on my ATC and I just love this paper from Basic Grey's "Offbeat" collection. To me, this paper reminds me of carrots. Wish they were 24 carats! LOL!

Just to update you all on the other stuff: My new job is going VERY well. I've been there 2 weeks now. It's busy, but not as emotionally "draining" as where I came from, and my boss is a total "Doll". (Can you say that about a male Opthalmologist? LOL!) So far, so good....Will is still waiting to hear about that job he interviewed with. Looks like they pushed everything back a bit. It's down to him and one other guy. Hopefully, we'll hear something next week (fingers crossed!)...Today is also the first day of summer for my "kitties" and they're already bored! LOL! We are limiting their time on the Wii and also giving them a bit of summer homework....Ha! Ha!...Have a good night.....

A Very Hungry Caterpillar Thanks

Hey Guys. Here's a card I started a while back that I finally finished. Yay! I couldn't decide what sentiment to use for this card, thus the hold-up. I originally wanted to make this card for Tyler and Hailee's teachers and what better sentiment then a "thank-you" card? Since tomorrow is the last day of school, the timing couldn't be more perfect. I got my inspiration for this card from one of my daughter's favorite books, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". This is the part of the book where the caterpillar is hungry and eating up all the food. It's my favorite scene, especially when he eats up the junk food! LOL! I also made a small hole in each of the food items, just like in the book! I think it's one of my most creative cards to date! What do you think?

Hailee's Graduation and Un"Bear"able Without You

Hey Guys! Wow, this weekend went fast, didn't it?...On Saturday, Will and I bought the Wii system for our little graduates. Hailee, and her dog, Sarah, graduated from Pre-school on Thursday and I have some pictures to share with you (see below. The first picture is me, Hailee and Sarah and the next one is Hailee and Sarah with her Pre-school teacher, Miss Betty Rose). I can't believe that Hailee will be in Grade K and Tyler will be in Second grade in the fall! Wow! I can remember my Grammar School years so clearly, and now I'm a mom with Grammar school kiddies. Funny, Huh?

In between tearing myself from the Wii, I also had time to play in Tracy's Sketchy Thursday, ESS #30. I saw a few cute "Camper" cards over on the Cat's Pajamas website, www.thecatspajamasrs.com. While I don't have their cute "Camper" set...YET!...I DO have this cute little set from New Clear Dollar Stamps. I couldn't resist pairing this card with Tracy's adorable sketch. I wanted keep this card kinda masculine so I used blue, green, tan, brown, and cream for my color palate....I'm gonna say "Nite, Nite" now and curl up in bed with an old Joan Crawford movie and try and unwind before I pass out...Have a good evening.

You're Graduating?...That's Wild!

Hey Guys! Happy Monday! Just a quickie post today before I get to work.....Here's a card I made for Hailee's graduation from Preschool, which is this Thursday. She's having a little commencement with a cap and gown and everything. I was originally going to give this card to Tyler, but I made him another "more mature" card, which I'll post soon.

For this card I used an Uno "Wild" card that Tyler found. This little "Wild" card reminded me of the A Muse's new Alligator stamp that I couldn't wait to use. Then I paired him with a graduation cap from Hero Arts. I also wanted to keep the primary color "theme" of this card (red, blue, yellow and green), so I colored my stripes yellow and red with my Copic markers and made some words with my label maker....Have a great day!
